Spain is a large country and the average holidaymaker can only expect to touch the surface of the culture and history of the Spanish people. We who are part of the vibrant development of the Costa del Sol still find it amazing to visualise that it is only a few decades since the coast was just occupied by small fishing villages. Today we are lucky to be able to enjoy a sophisticated holiday of sun, sea and sand but also to be able to travel inland and meet the locals in their habitats which have not changed for many years.
It is a very scenic course with lakes and a very pretty pine backdrop and fabulous views of the Mediterranean.
Two and a half hours away but well worth the effort to see the famous Alambra Palace and to enjoy the beautiful gardens with amazing views.
Reached by a long twisting road with spectacular scenery. A mountain side town divided by a massive gorge.
One hours drive, good for duty free goods and no VAT. Apes are fun and the caves are a must.
Pretty mountain village with far reaching views over the Costa del Sol. Look out for more leather goods here.
Marbella is known all over the world as one of the classiest and most beautiful holiday destinations in Southern Europe. It has everything; beaches, mountains, old world charm, cosmopolitan atmosphere, countryside and city and a wonderful climate. From Cabopino to Guadalmina, passing through the ports of Marbella and Puerto Banus the coastline is fine sand all the way.
Famous for its night life, marina and restaurants. A great place to eat or just sit and relax and watch the people go by. A very large market on Saturdays worth a visit but get there early. Just sit and relax and try some celebrity spotting.
Old and new town. Long promenade and beach leading to a large marina. Large market at weekends. Old town, very Spanish.
There is a very large marina here surrounded by restaurants and shops and nearby is Tivoli World. Cable car from Benalmadena up the mountain with spectacular views at the top. Worth seeing.
